Drill Nancy

This was a great idea that I heard of through the BoBo files. It is simple. In order to encourage the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, to open the floor for debate on drilling for more oil, let’s send some drills of our own to her office. Just get an envelope and put a drill bit in it, and send it off.
Mail all Drill Bits to:
The Honorable Nancy Pelosi
H-232, U.S. Capitol
Washington, D.C. 20515
202-225-0100
*P.S. Make sure to pad all of the envelopes so the drill bits don’t do damage to the postal equipment.
R.I.P. Fourth Amendment
This is a relatively recent story posted by the Washington Post. As the title suggests, it deals with the current status(or lack thereof) of the 4th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States.
The story:
In this story police raided a man’s home, killed both of his dogs, and scared the hell out of his entire family. Oh, and then I forget to say that the man happened to be the mayor of the town? Why would the police attack him? Drugs. Now, let me elaborate. A package full of marijuana was addressed to a house in the Berwyn Heights are of Prince George’s County, Maryland. The county sheriffs intercepted the package. Instead of going through the proper channels and obtaining a search warrant(as per the 4th amendment), they decided instead to set up a secret SWAT operation to catch the drug dealer. When the owner of the house, the mayor, picked up the package from outside; the SWAT team moved in. They broke into the house killed the family dogs, and arrested the mayor and his mother-in-law. Then the SWAT interrogated the horrified family for hours, right in front of the carcasses of the dogs which were literally lying in pools of blood. When the man said “I’m the mayor,” it was ignored. Why, apparently the sheriff never even clued in the Berwyn Heights Police Department before their attack.
The analysis
This is where it went wrong.
1) The Sheriff’s SWAT didn’t do their research. Did they really think that the drug lords would be stupid enough to send the package directly to their own homes. And even if they were that stupid, it could have been sent by one of the mayor’s political enemies. In fact they didn’t even know that the occupants of the house were the mayor and his family.
2)As stated above, they didn’t get a search warrant. They just busted in there. I think that any reasonable person(and many unreasonable people too) would comply with the police if they came in peacefully with a warrant. I mean, they’re the freaking police.
3)Excessive force was used. For the sake of argument, let’s assume that my first two points were carried out correctly and effectively. The guy actually was a drug dealer, he wasn’t the mayor, and he was not complying with the police. It still does not give merit to killing both of the family dogs. I understand that dogs can be threatening and can inflict harm. How difficult would it have been to, for example, kick the dogs out of the house. *Here I literally mean strike them with your foot.
results:
Now and forever the mayor’s family will be emotionally scarred. They will never be able to erase this horrible day from their memory, and never again will they see either of their dogs. Even from the standpoint of the government, who clearly has a need to overstep its constitutional authority, it was a bad move. This is a very bad public relations move. The best thing for them would have been if this story became a no issue. To bad. It exposes how power has corrupted those very people who were supposed to protect us. Hopefully, America will learn from this, and we(as a nation) will look to return America to the great, prosperous, and FREE nation that it once was.
John Edwards Sex Scandel
It seems like another Democrat has been cought cheating on their wife’s. This time, instead of a president, it was a former presidential candidate, John Edwards. John Edwards came in a distant third from Hillary Clinton, and Barack Obama, and maybe this is the answer. Cheating always seems to haunt ones mind for a while, but those darn Democrats always seem to find away out of that. But not this time.
No one has really speculated this, but maybe the reason why Edwards didn’t do as well as thought of was because he had such thoughts pondering his mind? Who really knows, but I can see all this being forgiven soon enough, and he might even be back in the political field, but never be able to capture the president positions, as the Grand Old Party knows how to throw out the sex scandel card.
But doesn’t this bring up the question that what if Obama is having a secret scandel like the above? Oh that would just make my day!
Michael
After such time, I have decided to start off with an introduction to me, Michael. I am the guy who got this group started, and pretty much the moderate of them all. I am a firm believer in no political party affiliation, and my views do change as more information is given to me. I support no one for president now, as neither John McCain or Barack Obama, as well as none of the third party candidates have shown to me that they are really presidential ready - and I am ready to write my name in on the ballot.
Also, as you can see, we seven have chosen the names of seven archangels. Michael, Raguel, Sariel, Gabriel, Raphael, Lucifer, and Uriel. We in no way see ourselves equevelent to these seven people, we just chose them for the uniqueness, and for the sake of hiding our own identities. We all hope you enjoy our commentary on this site, as we do find it a unique situation, even radical, but we all are friends no matter what differences in opinion we have.
You will also find us arguing amognst ourselves here too, so just join in the fun debate, as anyone is welcome to comment on anything, as no opinion will be ignored. Thanks for everyone who will stop by, and remember, I’m Michael, and I’m the best!

I don’t think any explanation is necessary here.
McCain says congress should go back to work
This video is from Moveon.org. It shows the hypocrisy of the Republicans and their psuedo-stance against the Congressional Recess. While McCain says that Congress shouldn’t be on recess, he himself has been in attendance at Congress for the fewest number of times of all members.
Oil Politics
This week more the Democratic Party experienced a leak of some its critical strategic information. The official Democrat position on drilling for oil is that it should not be done. They feel that it is a waste of time and that it cannot serve as a long term solution to the US’s energy problems. Recently, however, Speaker Pelosi has instructed Democrats to claim to support drilling only if it will help their political position. The assumption is that they can continue to vote against more drilling after they are safely reseated in their positions. After all, there will be no one to stop them: they already control both houses of congress, and in January the official coronation of Lord Obama will be complete. To me, this is reprehensible. It’s not the fact that they refuse to drill for more oil. That is their own decision. I am disgusted by the fact that they choose to lie about their position in order to maintain power. The Constitution of the United States of America set up the US to be a Democratic Republic. Democratic in the fact that we vote for our leaders, and Republic in the fact that our leaders in turn make the laws for us. The basis of this system is honesty and openness. That is why we the first amendment to The Constitution. It is to make sure that when government is doing something wrong we can as the people can “check” them. We are essentially the fourth branch of government. When our politicians lie we don’t know who to support. Granted politicians aren’t known for their honesty, but never have I heard of them telling boldface lies! I am very used to politicians spinning the truth to fit their agenda, but this is where I draw the line. When America voted in the Democrats in 2006 we were promised change from the old policies, nonpartisanship, and a return to things that made America great. I guess they lied then too.
Firebombs on Professors
Recently in California, several professors were attacked because of their research. They used animals to test the effects of different biological processes. The professors were being attacked by animal rights groups who felt that their research was unethical. There had been several protests before, but this was the first attack. I have to ask why? We have been testing our experiments on animals for centuries. Granted animals need rights, but people need rights too. Do you honestly believe that it is right to kill a man(and his wife, two kids) for a rat. I don’t. I respect the rights of animal rights activists to represent their views, but the injuring of people is where I draw the line.
Raguel
Hello, I’m Raguel. I’m more of an independent that most of these guys here. I support Barack Obama for president, as I trust him more than another Republican like Bush, John McCain. I agree with Obama that we need to come together to solve issues such as the oil crises we have. Drilling here now will not end the speculation for the next five years, and prices can still rise from now. Energy indpenedence with clean fuel can be achieced, and I am in favor of an Apollo type mission to get this done. I also support the idea of universal healthcare. We all should be able to have the same treatment, no matter poor or rich. People who make more money should be taxed more, and I believe that makes sense. Less taxes for the poor, more for the rich. Barack Obama is the change we can all believe in.
Sariel
I’m Sariel, and I am one of the so called “left-extremist” you hear about a lot. I believe that everyone deserves healthcare, lower taxes for the middle class, higher taxes for businesses, and a pullout in Iraq. This war has wasted the lives of Americans, and has wasted the money of Americans - money in which should of been used for such purposes as universal healthcare. I believe Barack Obama is the change that we can all believe in, and I would take his ideas even further. I’m for pro-choice, and for gay marriage nationally. I believe in freedom of religion, in the fact that the government shouldn’t choose what religion they wish to use - Christianity. The United States also needs to protect the environment as best they can, and by conserving oil and researching alternative fuels, we can become energy independent and clean in ten yers.
